On Saturday Natan and I went sailing with one of his former professors, who is also a captain. I was extremely nervous beforehand because I get really awful seasickness, but I didn't want to miss the opportunity, because even through I've lived in South Florida my whole life I had never been on a sailboat. I'm happy to say that I did NOT get sick. It was a big moment in my life as it was the longest I've ever been on a boat without getting violently sick.
We left around 11:00 in the morning and we went out to the Atlantic by way of the New River. It was pretty neat because the New River goes right by downtown Fort Lauderdale and we went under all the bridges that I normally drive over on my way to work so that was exciting to be on the other side and to be the one the was making the bridges go up.
I didn't get too many pictures because it's surprisingly hard to take pictures on a boat because of all the movement.
Fort Lauderdale from the sea.
The sails going up!
Throughout the whole trip I just kept thinking of the movie Captain Ron. I love that movie so much!
My sailing outfit.
My Sperry Topsiders! It was the first time that my boating shoes were actually on a boat but both the captain and his friend noticed and were impressed that I wore boating shoes.
Captain Bob.

Joanna Newsom
I have been listening to this live Joanna Newsom show all day. It's fantastic.
She is so super talented and I also think that she is just adorable. I have loved her since her debut album "The Milk Eyed Mender" and each successive album has just gotten better and better. Her new album "Have One on Me" is amazing. I have to admit that when I first heard that it was a three disc album that was over two hours long I thought it would be really indulgent and hard to get through, but somehow it's the opposite. When I finish listening to it I just want more and usually end up playing it again.
Also, I'm not one to get caught up in celebrity couples, but I do think she and Andy Samberg are really cute together.
Listen to the live show here it's over at the NPR blog and it's well worth it.

Wardrobe Refashion
So I just signed up for this:
Wardrobe Refashion
It's a blog community where you sign up and pledge not to buy new manufactured clothes and instead sew your own or alter clothes from thrift stores. I'm excited about it but also a little nervous. I hope that I can keep it up because I think it's a really neat idea and I want to develop my sewing skills. I have been sewing more. Right now I'm working on a dress right now and I'm using an old sheet for the fabric.
I just bought this book and it's really great. I'm using the drindl pattern for my dress. I would especially recommend this book for people who are new to sewing because it's got a lot of really great info.
I have the fabric for the skirt cut out and ready to go and I cut the bodice but unfortunately I have to alter the pattern because it's for a shorter person and the darts are not where they should be and it was too short. Hopefully I have enough fabric to cut a new one or else this might just be a skirt.
I have also been altering some of my pants. I had a few pants that were too wide in the legs so I sewed them into skinnyish pants and it was easy and I love the pants now so I plan to do this more. I will take some pictures of the ones I just finished and post it soon.
